Peter Tork mini bio!!!
Peter Tork's full name is Peter Halsten Thorkelson.
Peter was born on Febuary 13, 1942 in Washington D.C. He attended Carelton College in Northfield Missouri but dropped out to try his luck in New York City. How adventurous! While in NYC, Peter became a respected part of the Greenwich village folk scene, playing as a solo act as well as in a variety of groups. In 1965, Peter moved to California and at the insistence of friend and collaborator Stephen Stills, Peter auditioned for The Monkees! The character of Peter Tork played on the show, that of the lovable and naive dummy was developed during screen tests and was based upon a character Peter had created on the Greenwich village folk stages. A kid so innocent and sincere, yet a little offbeat. The kinda guy that you couldn't even think to be unkind to lest you be some kind of heartless monster.
Peter Tork was married three times to Jody Babb 1960-1960
Reine Stewart 1973-1974
and Barbra Lannoli 1975-1987
Peter while married to Reine was known to have wild parties at his Laurel canyon home, parties which include naked swimming in the pool, copious drug use, and famous guest such as Jim Morrison, Jimi Hendrix, Jackson Brown and Paul Rothchild among others!
In 1967, The Monkees released Headquarters, their first studio album to include artistic and instrumental input by the band themselves. Headquarters was released on May 22nd 1967, and reached number 1 on the billboard charts, but was bumped down to the number two position by The Beatles Sgt. Pepper's lonely heart club's band. Headquarters remained at the number 2 spot for 11 consecutive weeks. After much struggle with the studio for more creative control and conflict between band mates, with Peter and Davy coming to blows at one point, the television show was cancelled, Head the monkees movie was released and poorly received at the box office. It was around this time that Peter Tork left The Monkees to pursue other projects. Today Peter lives in Connecticut and has a band called Shoe suede blues.
