If I could have saved them, I would have.

"....where there is clarity there is no choice.
And where there is choice, there is misery."

I always stop Head at this point in the movie, because I like to pretend that The Monkees were able to swim away and escape from the bad guys just as they always had.

Monkees Fun Fact of the day!!!

In March 1967, due to habitat fragmentation and loss of prairie, the Texas Prairie Chicken was put on the endangered species list, prompting Mike Nesmith to take the cause under his wing (pardon the pun). Included below is The Monkees segment prompting viewers to save the Texas Prairie Chicken and an informational video about the Texas Prairie chicken.

MONKEES SCREEN TESTS!

I really love the screen tests for The Monkees!
Davy and Mike's screen tests are featured in both videos,
but the intro by Micky and Peter in the first video is just so adorable that I couldn't resist posting it.
The second video is a little long but definitely worth watching.
The Monkees real personalities really come through in both videos!
Enjoy!

Mijacogeo!

Today the local TV station showed,
The Frodis Caper!
One of my favorite Monkees episodes.
This is the last Monkees episode to ever be aired.
This episode is very hip and is peppered with Beatles references as seen in the beginning of the episode and during the chant scene.
I really like The Frodis Caper and can only imagine what the parents must of been saying back in the '60's.
I think it was kind of a big f--- you to the studio people.
The episode was extremely far out and psychedelic.
The parents must have flipped out.
Just watching the episode with it's thinly veiled drug references is quite amusing.
An absolutely marvelous and insightful Monkees episode!

The Frodis Caper, full episode for your viewing pleasure!

The show finishes with a beautiful performance by folk singer Tim Buckley

Sweet Frodis recharges inside her spaceship
My favorite part in the whole episode, when Frodis blows smoke on the evil Wizard Glick and he gets stoned,  and lays down on the grass like a flower child at Woodstock, saying, "I don't wanna fight anymore."
